Over the last few months I have spend a lot of time working out what is the best methods, times, hashtags, construction of post, images, videos and links that is needed to compile a very successful marketing strategy on different social media platforms. It has been nothing short of trial and error in order to find the winning and most successful recipe to use for now. Yes I am saying for now as it is needed to evaluate, rebuild and reimplement a strategy on a regular basis. I suggest that you do a evaluation every 30-45 days in order to make sure your campaign health is good.
We will be looking at the following methods that will help you create successful posts on different social media platforms using the correct length of post content, content in the post, pictures, videos, hashtags and when to post. Our primary focus will be on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Linkedin and Youtube.
Good to powerful post lengths
Facebook: 40 - 150 characters – less is more.
Twitter: 71 – 100 characters is a perfect length.
Instagram: 138 – 150 characters
Linkedin: 100 – 140 characters
Youtube in your video details section: 100 – 150 characters with a 2min to 3min video
Links in your posts
Facebook: post a link in your post. As soon as FB picks up the link remove it from the post writing. A post with a link is a successful post.
Twitter: You can add a short link but Twitter tweets perform better on Images and Text (Not memes)
Instagram: Links on Instagram is unclickable so people need to copy and paste into browser to use.
Linkedin: Hyperlinks works the best. Make sure that Linkedin retrieves the link preview correctly otherwise use a image or images then add the link into the post if the system does not retrieve the preview correctly.
Youtube in your video details section: In the description of the video you can post a link or multiple links. Remember to keep it easy to read.
Hashtags in your posts
Facebook: 2 per post – a hashtag with 10 characters sees more engagement
Twitter: 2 per post – use the search bar to search your hashtag for optimal results
Instagram: 5 – 11 per post for optimal results – use the search bar to search your hashtag for optimal results
Linkedin: 3 – 5 per post – keep in mind Linkedin is a professional platform so use appropriate hashtags
Youtube in your video details section: 3 to 4 relevant hashtags per video
Number of posts per day / week per platform and suggested times
Facebook: 2 Post per day maximum – leave at least 6-8 hours in between postings
Twitter: 2 – 5 tweets per day – 3 is optimal. 1 morning, 1 midday and 1 at night
Instagram: 2 posts per day is optimal. Plan them carefully and leave some time in between.
Linkedin: 1 post per day is optimal. Plan it carefully.
Youtube: Post a maximum of 2 videos per day with a average time per video of 2min to 3min. Plan it carefully and make sure your content is excellent quality.
